On Friday 30 March 2012 – Land Day – people from around the world will come together to march towards Jerusalem.
LAND DAY is an important day in the Palestinian.

In Birmingham we will be targeting Veolia ES a French multinational company and highlighting its activities in Jerusalem. Veolia is a partner in the construction and running of a Light railway system in Occupied East Jerusalem.  http://gm2j.com/main/

The Jerusalem Light Rail project is designed by the Israeli authorities to serve the needs of the settlers in the occupied Palestinian territories (OPT). The light rail provides a fast connection with West Jerusalem. Israeli settlements in the OPT and the annexation of East Jerusalem are illegal under international law. Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.”

Join the global boycott campaign trageting Veolia. Birmingham City Council has a multi-million pound waste management contract with Veolia ES, the company recycles our rubbish and runs the incinerator at Tyseley. West Midlands Palestine Solidarity Campaign is calling for the Council to stop contracting with Veolia ES, our Council Tax should not be paid to a company complicit in the occupation.

Show your support and solidarity with the Global march on Jerusalem on Friday 30th March by taking action against Veolia in Birmingham.

Veolia ES directly profits from the occupation by providing a range of commercial services which enables the theft and on-going occupation of Palestinian land, including:
• running bus services through occupied Palestinian territories to settlements which enables settlers to travel to and from the West bank and Israel.
• operates the Ayalon Sewage Treatment Plant on the West Bank which treats sewage from illegal settlements.
• owns subsidiary companies which dump Israeli rubbish at the Tovlan landfill site in the Jordan Valley.
